Students are encouraged to utilize job fairs, employer recruitment tables, networking events, and hands-on professional skill development opportunities.

Online Career and Professional Development Resources

Career Services offers a variety of online career and professional development resources including interest and strengths assessments, skill development platforms, Job Board through Handshake, Resume Builder, career exploration and labor market resources.

CareerLion by Handshake

North Central Texas College uses Handshake as its official online job board and resource center. Handshake connects students and alumni with actively-hiring employers, job and internship postings, and hiring events.

  • Job and Internship opportunities are posted exclusively for students and recent graduates
  • Upload a resume and career portfolio to make available to employers
  • Access to events and exclusive networking opportunities with employers
  • Employers search for talented students and alumni, and post jobs for free

Career Services for Technical Program

Students enrolled in technical education programs such as accounting, criminal justice, nursing, cosmetology, engineering technology, surgical technology, equine science, business management, computer information technology, welding technology, machining technology, industrial mechatronics, HVAC, agricultural science, radiology technology, and emergency medical services may network with department faculty and the Career Services Center to receive advising related to potential careers.

Many of NCTC’s career and technical degree programs require experiential education (i.e. working internship hours). It is the student’s responsibility to find and secure an internship or job that qualifies for their Co-op course, which is typically taken in a student’s final semester. The Career Services team is glad to support students in their search for an internship by providing 1-on-1 coaching for resume and cover letter development, job search strategies and resources, and guidance on communicating with employers. Faculty members in these areas are also available to assist students in contacting prospective employers for internship and employment opportunities.

Student Leadership Development

An annual student leadership conference is offered each fall semester. Students have the opportunity to gain knowledge and professional skills for implementing leaderships strategies.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in the National Society of Leadership and Success chapter at North Central Texas College.

Success Seminars

Workshop style seminars featuring success strategies are offered on all campuses, each semester. These programs are short, intentional, and focused on providing students with helpful information. Workshops are available online and face-to-face.
