Residence Life/On-Campus Housing

Living in a residence hall provides students with opportunities to participate in a community, build positive relationships, develop communication skills, and enjoy life on campus. NCTC provides on-campus housing for students in three residence halls on the Gainesville campus: Bonner Hall, The Bunkhouse, and Hays Hall.

Please note that campus housing is closed during Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Spring Break and summer unless otherwise published. Residents should plan ahead for alternative living arrangements for these periods.

Bonner Hall

Bonner Hall is a traditional residence hall that features double occupancy rooms and community bathrooms. Male and female wings are separated by a common lobby area. Guests of the opposite sex are permitted in the wings and rooms during visitation hours.

The Bunkhouse

The Bunkhouse is a double occupancy facility with a bathroom and shower in each room. A free laundry area is also located within this facility. Each room is assigned to all male or all female residents. Guests of the opposite sex are permitted in the rooms during visitation hours.

Hays Hall

Hays Hall is a suite-style facility that accommodates 27 students in a two-story structure. It features six 4-student suites and one 3-student suite. Each suite has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a common area. Each suite is assigned to all male or all female residents. Guests of the opposite sex are permitted in the suites during visitation hours.

Amenities

All students living in the residence halls have access to the amenities located in Bonner Hall. Bonner Hall features a kitchen, TV lounges, computers, and free laundry facilities on both sides of the building. There is also a study room available for use.

The College requires students living in the residence halls to purchase meal plans (see details under Charges for Room and Board). All meals are served in the Student Union.

Applications

Students who wish to apply for housing should complete a housing application online through MyNCTC. Additional information may be found at www.nctc.edu/residence-life. All housing applications will be processed on a first-come, space-available basis. The college reserves the right to make specific room assignments, although roommate preferences will be honored whenever possible. Housing applications should be submitted by July 30th. See Paying for College, Charges for Room & Board in the Catalog for room and board rates and payment options.

Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination

Any incoming, new student who lives on campus must either receive a vaccination against bacterial meningitis (10 days prior to move-in) or meet certain criteria for declining such a vaccination before they can live on campus. Students who are living on campus will be required to provide verification of vaccination against bacterial meningitis or provide a signed affidavit declining the vaccination.

Resident Assistants

Residence Halls at NCTC employ student Resident Assistants (RAs) to help the Manager of Residence Life build community, support residents, enforce policies, and respond to emergencies. The residence halls are staffed with an appropriate number of RAs in direct relation to the number of residents in the building. To apply to be an RA or for more information, contact Residence Life at housing@nctc.edu.

Security

It is the mission of the North Central Texas College Department of Public Safety to protect individual rights, maintain order, and prevent crimes against people and property while observing the highest ethical standards. In doing so, the department strives to reflect the institutional mission by providing a safe environment conducive to student success and education, earn the confidence of the public, and forge ongoing partnerships through our communities to support a safer academic environment. The NCTC DPS, along with other College officials, reserves the right to forcibly remove any student from the campus who poses an immediate threat to the health and safety of the college environment.

Facilities

Residents with maintenance and/or IT requests should notify the RAs or the Manager of Residence Life, so the requests can be addressed.

Policies and Procedures

Residence Life policies and procedures are detailed in the Residence Life Handbook which is provided to each student during check in and available online. Attendance at mandatory meetings is required to review policies and procedures and avoid fines. Additionally, all residents are expected to review and abide by the NCTC Student Handbook which is available online.
