Industry Credit

Partial degree requirements may be waived for industry certifications such as:

• A+
• EPA Recovery
• Linux+
• Microsoft Office User
• AIPB Certified Bookkeeper
• Network+
• Security+
• CCNA
• Similar certifications issued by a qualified authority (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, CISCO, EC Council, AWS, TDLR)

The appropriate Division Chair will maintain a list of industry certifications and equivalent NCTC courses.

Professional certifications must meet current industry standards and be equivalent to the current NCTC course that is requested. Documentation must include a verifiable copy of the industry certification, certification exam objectives and the corresponding course syllabus listing course outcomes and is to be kept on file by the appropriate Division Chair. Credit will be granted only for documented learning that demonstrates achievement of all outcomes for specific courses in an approved degree program.

Students wishing to use an industry certification for course credit must complete the Request for Experiential Credit form and submit it, along with documentation for evaluation to the Division Chair. Once the evaluation process is complete, students will receive from the Division Chair a signed copy of the approved Request for Experiential Credit form listing the awarded credits.
