The NCTC Esthetician Program curriculum is governed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations. The 20-semester hour Esthetician curriculum leads to a Level I Workforce Certificate and helps prepare graduates to take the TDLR Esthetician Examinations. Successful completion of the examinations will allow graduates to practice as licensed esthetician in the state of Texas.
To enroll in the Esthetician certificate program, student must:
- Be at least 17 years of age by state licensure testing date,
- Apply to NCTC and complete the college orientation,
- Complete required Cosmetology department paperwork,
- Complete financial aid forms if applicable,
- Provide applicable transcripts, and
- Pay a $25 fee to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for a student permit.
Level I Workforce Certificate
Upon completion of the Level I Workforce Certificate, a student will be able to:
- Demonstrate proper skincare applications.
- Determine the basic physiology of the skin.
- Demonstrate the skills and knowledge required for the successful completion of the state licensing examination.
Program fees associated with the Esthetician Certificate are outlined below.
First 16-Weeks
- Textbooks (Pivot Point LAB Online + Study Guide)
- Dermalogica Student Skincare Kit
- TDLR Permit Fee - $25
- Supply Fee
- Airpot
- Navy scrubs with the first name and school logo embroidered on the top, and a black smock or lab coat.
Second 16-Weeks
- Salon Fundamentals Exam Prep Book (3rd Edition) by Pivot Point
- ARC Chemical Peel Kit
- Chemical Supply Fee
- State Board Exam Fees
Freshmen will enroll in three courses in the first 16-week session and three courses in the second 16-week semester for a total of six courses to be completed in two semesters with a total of 20 semester credit hours (SCH) and 750 contact hours. Students must pass courses successfully to proceed to the next course in the sequence. Summer semesters are 10 weeks.
