Student Correspondence Policy


Student Email

All accepted and currently enrolled students will be assigned an official NCTC email address by the Information Technology Services Department. This address will be communicated to the student along with their acceptance letter from NCTC. Student email accounts are the official form of communication between NCTC and its accepted and currently enrolled students. Student may transfer all NCTC emails to their personal email address within their official student email account. The college will maintain a reasonable expectation that electronic correspondence will be received and read in a timely manner.

Although email is the preferred method official correspondence; North Central Texas College uses various and appropriate media and delivery methods to communicate and correspond with prospective, accepted, and currently enrolled students. This includes, but is not limited to: email, text messages, website and online instructional portal (Canvas) announcements, conventional mail delivery, paper documents and publications, campus monitor and social media postings.

Text messaging is used by authorized college officials to relay information about cancellations, admissions, and academic requirements or deadlines, registration information, financial aid, and other matters that are time-sensitive and necessary for student success.

Refer to the syllabus for communication protocols with the professor.

Social Networking Policy

If a student maintains social networking sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc., the student is responsible for keeping personal site appropriate.

Students should refrain from positing obscenities; as well as physical threats or derogatory comments towards other NCTC students or NCTC employees. Utilizing technology to encourage illegal behavior or threaten the safety of NCTC students, employees or visitors if a violation of NCTC board policy; for detailed information in regards to technology misuse see FLB-Student Conduct or the Student Handbook. Violators may be reported to the police. Students found to be in violation of the policy may face disciplinary action.

Technical Support

The research, development, and maintenance of technical support will reside with the NCTC Information Technology Services Department.

Students in need of technical support with any of hte systems administered by CANVAS should use the eCampus Help Desk. During business hours, eCampus users can also call the eLearning Department at (940) 668-4243.

For all other technical support (i.e. email, NCTC computer, NCTC printer, etc.) login to OneLogin and click on an IT-Support - Zendesk to submit a ticket. During business hours, the student may visit with IT or call the IT department at (940) 668-4284.
