The Aviation industry in North Texas is always seeking qualified maintenance technicians. The industry has seen tremendous growth through the two large metropolitan and logistics focused Alliance airports. Millions of people and items are transported via aviation everyday around the world. All of these aviation companies required qualified maintenance for each of the aircraft used in operations.
There is a steady increase in the amount of aviation companies in North Texas.
NCTC has partnered with U.S. Aviation Academy in Denton to provide an accredited and FAA approved program that is taught at the state-of-the-art U.S. Aviation Academy facility. Students can choose to earn one or both level I certificates. One certificate specializes in Airframe FAA required curriculum and the other focuses on the Powerplant.
A student also can complete an Associate of Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance that can greatly enhance their career growth opportunities.
Associate of Applied Science
Upon completion of the associate degree, students will be able to:
- Prepare to take the FAA examination for the Airframe and Powerplant licenses.
- Demonstrate knowledge of aviation electrical systems.
- Demonstrate knowledge of aviation science.
- Demonstrate the necessary skills for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing auxiliary electrical, hydraulic, and fuel systems for various aircraft.
- Demonstrate the necessary skills for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various reciprocal and turbine engines, including all support systems.
- Demonstrate knowledge of aviation airframe and powerplant FAA inspection methods.
This degree can be completed through a mix of face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes. The program is designed to take one year or two semesters and consists of the following courses.
All of the technical courses required are hosted at the U.S. Aviation Academy facility located in Denton, Texas. Academic courses will be offered primarily at the NCTC Denton Campus.
