The Data Analytics and Management Certificate and Associate of Applied Science programs at NCTC are designed to prepare students for a career in the use of specialized software to store, organize, and analyze data and to communicate results. The curriculum provides learning opportunities and hands-on training in the fundamentals of programming, Oracle, and the most up-to-date tools in the field of data analytics and management. Students working towards this certificate and degree can select a path in database management* or in data analytics**. The program curriculum has been developed with the assistance and advise of the Business and Industry Leadership Team (BILT) which is composed of service area industry professionals.
Prerequisite: Students in this program must be able to keyboard at a minimum rate of 40 words per minute (WPM). Those who cannot meet this requirement must take a keyboarding class to improve their skils prior to enrollment.
Level I Certificate
The Data Analytics Basic Level I Certificate is designed to prepare studens with the skills needed for a career in the rapidly evolving field of data analysis. This program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to collect, analyze, interpret, and visualize data to inform decision-making and drive organizational success across various industries.
The Certificate Program provides similar classes to the degree programs; however, there are no academic classes in these individual curricula. A student that commences study as a certificate student and later desires to complete the degree program will find that the classes taken for a certificate will readily transfer to the degree program.
This certificate can be completed 100% online. The program can be completed in two semesters and is comprised of the following suggested pathway or course of study.
Upon completion of the Level I Certificate, students will be able to:
- Use industry relevant tools to manipulate data.
- Develop and execute a research design.
- Interpret research results.
- Produce visual representation of results.
