Red River Promise

The Red River Promise aims to provide diverse, accessible, and affordable pathways to college for all students. In partnership with the community, high school seniors will have opportunities for guaranteed tuition support and a success coach to guide them as they earn their certificate or degree.

Graduating seniors from the 14 Promise high schools are eligible to receive a last-dollar scholarship, covering tuition, general use fees, and the Lion Book Bundle fee (per credit hour) after all federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid awards and scholarships are applied to the student account. The Red River Promise does not cover housing, meal plans, course-specific fees, or any additional costs beyond tuition, general use fees, and the Lion Book Bundle fees.

Once designated as a Promise Scholar, students will be paired with a success coach who will mentor and support them through college completion. While attending NCTC, Promise Scholars may receive last-dollar scholarship funding for up to 30 semester credit hours per academic year, for a maximum of two academic years or completion of an associate degree, whichever occurs first. Summer enrollment may be applied toward the annual 30-hour maximum, if applicable.

  • Mission: Build a stronger college-going culture that strengthens the local workforce.
  • Vision: Develop an affordable Promise program to produce stronger college and workforce outcomes.
