North Texas is flying high-and so is the aviation industry that fuels it! With nonstop growth around major hubs like DFW and Alliance Airport, the sky’s literally the limit for aviation careers. Millions of passengers and tons of cargo take flight every day, and behind every successful journey stands a skilled maintenance technician keeping those aircraft in top shape.

To meet this soaring demand, North Central Texas College (NCTC) has teamed up with U.S. Aviation Academy in Denton to offer an FAA-approved Aviation Maintenance Associate of Applied Science program.

The flexible training format combines in-person, hybrid, and online classes-allowing you to balance your studies and schedule. Technical courses are hosted, in part, at the U.S. Aviation Academy and the NCTC Denton Campus.

In just two years, you can launch your aviation career and join the growing network of professionals keeping North Texas-and the world-flying smoothly.

Upon completion of this associate degree, graduates will enter the workplace with licensing in FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) maintenance and will demonstrate competency in:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of aviation science
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of electrical systems.
  • Demonstrate the necessary skills for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing auxiliary electrical, hydraulic, and fuel systems for various aircraft.
  • Demonstrate the necessary skills for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various reciprocating and turbine engines, including all support systems.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of aviation airframe and powerplant FAA inspection methods.

This degree can be completed through a mix of face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes. The program is designed to take four semesters.
